As Time Magazine’s 2013 “Person of the Year,” Pope Francis
is a breath of fresh air to the 1.2 billion Catholics of the world.

“Pope Francis and the Church at the Crossroads of Reform,” will
begin at 7 p.m. March 31 in Francis Hall of Phillips Auditorium. The lecture is
an extension of the second-ever HPU Communication Week, and is co-sponsored by
the Pulitzer Center. The event is free and open to the public – no tickets are
required.
“This is a Pope that has captured the imagination of people
across the globe,” Berry told Bob Buckley in an interview with Fox8 News. “There is no president
or prime minister in the world who is talking about poverty or banks – this is
radical language, and it is jolting people and their assumptions.”
During this presentation, Berry will address the future of the
Catholic Church and the Papacy, and the road that lies ahead for Pope Francis
as he confronts the Church's recent history of child sex abuse and financial
scandals.
Berry's talk is part of a week-long visit to the Pulitzer
Center's Campus
Consortium partners in the Triad: Wake Forest University, High Point
University and Guilford College.
Berry is the author of “Lead us Not Into Temptation,” a book
used in many newsrooms, along with “Vows of Silence: The Abuse of Power in the
Papacy of John Paul II,” which was turned into a film that won many awards. He
has appeared on Nightline, Oprah, ABC and CNN. He is regular contributor to the
Global Post and the Pulitzer Center.
